Dragon Arts and Learning (DAL) is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) set up in early February 2015 as its own legal entity. DAL formed after the insolvency of the homeless Swansea Charity, Cyrenians Cymru. DAL used to be a project managed by Cyrenians. It was constituted by DAL service users themselves, who did not want to be without a unique creative arts day service for socially disadvantaged groups, who had for over 12 years met, learned new skills and improved their physical and mental health and well-being together at a project previously based in Swansea; now relocated to Pontardawe.
As victims of the demise of Cyrenians, service users elected 8 Board members to carry them forward and rebuild their services for the benefit of disadvantaged groups in South Wales. Our Charity reference number is 1162140.
You can see how immense our difficulties were, and how we had such desire and drive to continue by watching this short YouTube clip.

Our aims as stated on our governing document are:
‘For the public benefit, to promote social inclusion by preventing people from becoming socially excluded, relieving the needs of those people who are socially excluded and assisting them to integrate into society in Wales’.
Services are delivered at a previously disused factory building on Church Street, Pontardawe. DAL works with a variety of local agencies and partners who are consulted regularly about the design and delivery of services.
