The Society was founded in January 1992.

Its aim is to promote the study of the history of Holt and the surrounding area. The Society has working groups of members on various projects resulting in publications, exhibitions, local lectures, waymarked village trail leaflets and hands on archaeology.

January 23, 2025: Mike Royden - The Poor Law and Workhouse in West Cheshire and the Welsh Borderland.
February 27, 2025: Keith Lawrence - The Great Fire of Nantwich
March 27, 2025: Jill Burton - Queen Victoria’s Visit to North Wales, 1889
April 24, 2025: Mark Leah - Recent Archaeological Work in Cheshire
