Founded originally in 1969, in 2023 the Offa's Dyke Association became a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (No:1203068). Our charitable object:
“To promote for the public benefit, in the border counties region of England and Wales, the conservation, preservation, protection and understanding of Offa’s Dyke and similar or linked sites and structures of archaeological or historical interest.”
We want the public to enjoy and understand their experience of Offa's Dyke. We run the Offa's Dyke Centre in Knighton, Powys, where visitors can study our interpretive displays on Offa's and Wat's Dykes. For a preview of the Centre visit our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=orWoc6FQakA
We also promote research into Offa's Dyke and, along with Cadw and Historic England, are a member of the Offa's Dyke Conservation Project steering group. We operate our own conservation fund for the Dyke, also the seasonal walkers' Passport for the National Trail which promotes walking in the drier months of the year when there is less risk of erosion and damage to the sensitive archaeological earthwork.
Income from businesses advertising on our website supports the delivery of our charitable aims
2024 summer season - until further notice the Offa's Dyke Centre will be open Fridays to Mondays 10am to 4pm.
