Welcome Friends help people over 50 in Pembrokeshire to make the most out of life.
Welcome Friends can give you information about lots of local groups that would welcome new members. They can put you in touch with a local contact who is waiting to help, or arrange for someone to come along with you until you feel confident about going on your own.
Welcome Friends offer a befriending service whereby a volunteer will be matched and can visit you in your own home for a period of time.
Could you be a Welcome Friends volunteer?
Would you like to visit a lonely person in their own home for just an hour a week? Would you like to organise a social activity group?
Volunteers are needed to:
*Offer one-to-one befriending in the home
*Support an older person for a short time as they prepare to join new activities
*Help introduce new interests to older people
*Set up new activities in community settings, such as sheltered accommodations.
Welcome Friends will support your volunteering. Volunteering opportunities will be discussed with you. Your placements will be arranged with ongoing contact and support. Your local Welcome Friends staff member or organiser will arrange DBS checks and membership to the charity and short informal training sessions will be provided. Limited personal insurance will cover you during volunteering and travel expenses to your placement will be paid.
