The "Clydach Senior Citizens Social Club" started its life, in the 1970's, as the "Clydach Old Age" club.
It originally met in the old band room, in Aberclydach Place, but this building became unavailable and the club then met (since 2000), and still does, at the current Community Hall in Vardre Road with a membership of approx. 40.
The aim of the Old Age Club was to provide a meeting place for the retirees/elderly who live in and around the Clydach area. and the committee of the Clydach Senior Citizens Social Club like to think that they have evolved the club to provide friendship/support for elderly singles/couples and bereaved.
The club meet each Thursday of the week from 5.30p.m. to 7.30p.m. providing free tea/coffee
There is also a Christmas buffet held at the hall for all members.
Each week members can choose to play bingo as well as a card game (similar to bingo) called "hoy", and there is a weekly (and monthly) raffle.
Throughout the year, the club organise optional coach trips, some having a meal included, where member's guests are also welcome to come along.
The Clydach Senior Citizens Social Club would like to extend a warm welcome to all seniors in and around the Clydach area and encourage them to come and make new friends.
