Forest School SNPT was established in 2001 to develop and provide Forest School programmes in Swansea, Neath and Port Talbot. The aims of FSSNPT are to promote the building of self-confidence and self-esteem of children and young people, to promote learning and play, and to improve health and well-being through the provision of an active physical outdoor experience. We also aim to raise awareness, appreciation and enjoyment of the natural environment.
Our main activities are:
Long-term group projects with weekly woodland visits
Out-of-school learning provision, play-schemes, community projects
Adult training programmes including Agored Cymru accredited courses, CPD / INSET days & specialist behaviour and First Aid courses
The ethos and approach of Forest School are very inclusive and can cater effectively for children, young people and adults. Forest School is especially beneficial for those who do not succeed in mainstream society for various reasons, including those suffering deprivation or disaffection. Individuals have an opportunity to achieve in a carefully designed task, no matter how small, so that they feel challenged, take risks and then succeed. This has a positive impact on attitude and behaviour.
