Hay and District Dial a Ride

Dial-A-Ride is a transport charity that started in Hay in January 1995. It provides more than 6,500 passenger journeys a year.

Our mission is: "The relief of persons in the Hay-on-Wye and District area who are poor, disabled, elderly or who otherwise have impaired mobility by the provision of a transport service for such persons."

This includes:
Getting to GP appointments
Visiting local shops
Getting to the hairdressers
Visiting friends and family
Attending local clubs and community events
Last year the charity provided 6571 journeys for people.

The service operates within nine miles of Hay, mainly in rural areas and isolated villages with no public transport access.

It operates in Hay and Talgarth, and such areas as Bronllys, Erwood, Gwernyfed, Llanigon, Clyro, Gladestry, Glasbury, Glascwm and Painscastle - on both sides of the English/Welsh border.

The charity's community transport includes a 12-seater mini bus and a 5-person people carrier.
