The Institute is at the heart of the community and home to the majority of societies and cultural events in the town, as well as hosting the community library and town council. Over 200 events a year are held in the building.
The Main Hall can hold up to 150 people and is ideal for wedding receptions, parties and large scale events. We hold an alcohol licence which allows for a bar open until midnight. The stage has brand new curtains and a full lighting and sound system suitable for theatrical performances, concerts and choirs etc. There is a fully equipped kitchen adjacent to the hall. The building has full wheelchair access and there is a lift in the foyer which provides easy access to the hall.
The Youth Room offers space for smaller meetings of up to 30 people, suitable for talks, committee meetings and small events such as coffee mornings. There is a kitchenette attached. Each year the Institute hosts a spring Plant Sale and an autumn Nearly New Sale.
The Community Library is open Tues 10-1, Thurs 3-6, Fri 2-5 and Sat 10-1, and operates in association with Powys Library Services.
The Institute also houses a fully professional recording studio complete with guitars, a full drum kit, keyboard, 16 track mixing desk, plus Apple Mac computer and Logic express software. It can be booked for recording or as a rehearsal space.
The Institute Garden is available for outdoor events.
