Motion Control Dance’s mission statement is to enrich lives through the art of movement and dance. Our mission aims to enrich lives and ‘advance the education of people of all ages, living and visiting the Vale of Glamorgan and the surrounding areas, in the performing arts, particularly through the art of dance, to benefit the public'.
For over a twenty years, Motion Control has delivered weekly classes, workshops, training and performance opportunities, we have created many memorable experiences for those participating in the activities and also for our audiences. Our services help individuals to express and appreciate themselves through creative dance sessions that can help broaden horizons and develop new skills. Our Award Winning projects focus upon children, young people and adults with disabilities, as well as those who are socially deprived, with the aim to increase general health and well-being and tackle social exclusion, through the medium of dance. We believe that everyone can have a Chance to Dance!
We work with schools and local organisations, delivering dance projects & workshops to young people to engage them in physical activity, develop and increase confidence, self- esteem, social skills, motor skills, physical fitness create new friendship groups, and impact on literacy and numeracy as part of the holistic learning process of dance and movement. Our projects and workshops are delivered throughout the community with opportunities to showcase dance pieces at local community events and competitions.
Based at the Barry YMCA, Motion Control Dance Studio works with over 1000 individuals on a variety of movement projects since being registered as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation in May 2015. We have worked in the community with many more since Motion Control Dance was founded in 2001. We pride ourselves on being unique, and making a difference to people’s lives as we are the only community dance provider in our region that consciously focuses on government agendas tackling social inclusion and improving health and well-being. We are the recipients of the Best Third Sector Business of the Vale of Glamorgan 2022 as well as being the winners of the Welsh Prestige Award for Dance Studio of the Year 2022
